This morning I experienced to be warned by Facebook for possible phishing attack. This screen shot was shown to me upon logging my Facebook account.
“Suspicious activity has been detected on your Facebook account and it has been temporarily suspend as a security precaution. It is likely that your account has been compromised as a result of entering your password n a website designed to look like Facebook. This type of attack is known as phishingâ€
My account has been temporary suspended for a reason that I do not know. But it might be due to different computers where I used to login and make updates. ( My Son Computer, My Daughter Computer, iPad and more). So I was told to use the desktop computer and follow the instruction on the screen. Upon my log in at my desktop computer, I was asked to choose on how would I validate my account, They gave the following choices:
- Verify through mobile phone
- Verify through faces of my friends in Facebook
- verify through secret question.
I have chosen the verification through mobile phone, simply because I do not know personally all my friends in Facebook, and I also do not know the security question that I have made before when I make my account. It is good that the enrolled mobile phone is correct. Upon sending the Code to my mobile phone, I immediately enter the security code to the space provide.
After the code has been entered I have been told to change my old password. And then the rest is history, I got back my Facebook account.
I just want to know if there are lots of incident like this in the past. Because this might also be the way of Facebook to confirm that their users are not fictitious. So anybody experience this lately?
