I just received a query about the network band of a mobile phone that will work in Philippines. And this is what I found out.
In Philippines, Mobile phone with GSM 900 and GSM 1800 capacity for 2G and UMTS 2100 capacity for 3g will definitely work. User needs to check the network Band capability of mobile phones that are being purchased abroad if it falls to this category. Since if not , users will just waste their money purchasing high end phone that will not work in Philippines.
Additional information could be found from Wikipedia as follows:
It says that Smart Communication & Globe Telecom supports the following network band:
Smart Communication
- Smart : GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSPA+, WMAX, LTE
- Talk and Text : GSM
- Red Mobile: GSM
- Sun Cellular:GSM
Globe Telecom
- Globe : GSM, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA, HSPA+, WMAX,
- Touch Mobile†GSM
Bookmark this information since this might help you when buying phone outside Philippines.
