HTC Launches New Windows Smartphones | 8X and 8S Features and Specification

The Taiwanese manufacturer HTC came out Wednesday to launch two new Windows 8-powered smartphones, the 8X and the 8S. HTC was the first smartphone maker to use the Android platform on their phones and now that it has decided to run its latest products on Windows 8, Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer is praising the new devices, calling their partnership with HTC a “big milestone” that offers “customers a simple choice and a truly unique experience.”

The 8X features a 4.3-inch, 341ppi 720p HD gorilla-glass-coated touchscreen, a 16GB built-in memory, a 1GB RAM, and runs on  Qualcomm 1.5GHZ dual-core processor. The 8X has an 8 MP rear camera with autofocus, an LED flash and a BSI sensor for low-light photography. The camera is equipped with an F2.0 aperture and a 28 mm lens. It is able to record high definition videos at 1080p. It is the heavier HTC smartphone at 13g and taller at 12mm than the 8S.

The 8S, on the other hand is equipped with a Super LCD display on gorilla glass and a 4 inch screen with WVGA screen resolution. It has a 4GB built-in memory and runs on Qualcomm 1GHZ dual-core processors. It features a 5 MP camera with autofocus LED flash. It features an F2.8 aperture and a 35 mm lens. It can record high definition videos at 720p.

Both models feature accelerometers, proximity and ambient light sensors and can deliver the best audio as they both are equipped with Beats Audio. The 8X comes in California Blue, Graphite Black, Flame Red, and Limelight Yellow while the 8S comes in Domino Black-White, Fiesta Red, Atlantic Blue and High-Rise Grey-Yellow.
