Porsche Design and Research In Motion (RIM) To Introduce P’9981 smartphone. The BlackBerry-based smartphone will have forged stainless steel frame and hand-wrapped leather back cover, sculpted QWERTY keyboard, and touch display.
The handset will run on the BlackBerry 7 operating system, with a custom exclusive Porsche Design user interface, and Wikitude World Browser.Users will also receive exclusive BBM PINs, so they can be identified as P’9981 users.
A nice piece of equipment that will try to get a portion of the android dominated market.
Handset specification as follows :
- 1.2Ghz processor
- HD video recording
- 24-bit high resolution graphics
- advanced sensors enabling new augmented reality applications
- 8GB of on-board memory, expandable up to 40GB with a micro SD card
- includes support for Near Field Communications.
I think it would be better if they made a dual core processor instead of 1.2 GHz Processor only. Lots of Smartphone nowadays give HD Video recording capability so it is not an edge for them. The memory is also small compare to other phone that could give as high as 64 GB, I would be great if they can have a capacity larger than 64 GB which is the maximum of iPhone, we need to remember that HD quality video will take a lot of memory to the phone. Well just my comment.
The P’9981 will soon be available from Porsche Design stores later this year.
