The new chairman of the board has made big contributions to the company since he became a member of the board back in 2005. Apple’s CEO, Tim Cook, stated that the new board member Bob Iger has also worked closely with him in the last few years and he is confident that he will be a good addition to the board.
Arthur Levinson is actually the company’s longest serving director. He is also a board member of the pharmaceutical company Roche and the chairman of Genentech. This guy is not new to the tech world and has been aboard Google’s board until the year 2009. When it was evident that there will be a stiff competition between Apple and Google, Levinson stepped down. This is just 2 months after Google ex-CEO Eric Schmidt also stepped down from the Apple’s board.
Apple’s CEO Tim Cook believes in the capabilities of the new people on board and hopes that the company adheres to Steve Jobs’ legacy of creativity, expansion and innovation.
