Did you know that a young blogger can earn up to US$ 70,000 a month ?

After reading Connectedinternet.co.uk about Ashley Qualls  a 17 Year Old Dot Com Millionaire, I conclude that a blogger entrepreneur can succeed as long as dedication to the objective is being practiced.

Below are some facts shown in the site :

  • Ashley Qualls started at 14 and dropped out of school to build her online business
  • First Adsense cheque was for $2,790
  • Now earns as much as $70k per month from her Whateverlife.com site

Her site is great, specially to those using myspace.

After viewing Mel and Joey and this story I think it will encourage a lot of Filipinos into blogging.

I would like to congratulate her and thank her for being another inspiration for those who are new in blogging.

But still I do believe that education is important to be completed. It is through education where we can gain knowledge.

    @ Speedy

I totally Agree with you speedy I will not drop out in school as what I have told at my post.

Who knows until she will be on the lime life.?

    Nobody knows I believe.

The passion of blogging should be there.. Whether you earn a lot or nothing at all.

seriously, I do not think dropping out of Highschool, whatever, is the best option here? How much of her time did it really take up? She’s not likely to be able to ride that wave forever. Even if she’s made 1 million in a year, that is not enough to live the rest of your life on.

Nobody is going to care 2 years from now what the hell she did as a child. People are going to get stuck on ‘dropout’ and not really going to be able to get past that.

Does she even code her own site now, or does she just hire it out and ride the popularity wave right now? Any real skillset here? Even if she is a master at html, no education and it’s all really just crap.

    call me jealous or whatever.

    Slevi,

This was indeed a great comment. I must totally agree wit you that Advertising skill is really necessary and the luck is also needed in order to suceed in blogging.

” Quiting education for it though probably isn’t the choice I’d have made either ” as what i have told on my entry .. I would rather finished my degree in college and earn rather than to gamble my life into blogging.

Blogging for me is a hobby.although you can also earn from it but still you have to be happy on what you are doing and not for the sake of money.

Asides from simply devoting yourself to it I think there’s also an essential requirement of skill in advertising requirement with a little touch of just plain old luck.

Although many tend to turn down the luck factor, because of course how could it just be plain old stupid luck after all right? There’s usually more than one of the similar idea which arise at the same moment, of which one just happens to break through, become popular and successful for whatever reason whilst the other stays behind and is to be forgotten about.

Now of course you can come up with a thousand reasons as to why it wouldn’t be to be considered as luck, but in essence it simply is.

I definitely wouldn’t see such a thing like this as any aspiration to change my current lifestyle for though, it’s just one of those very few bloggers which jumped out again but meanwhile for every successful blogger there’s well over a ten thousand which don’t make more than a single buck a month.

Quiting education for it though probably isn’t the choice I’d have made either, 70k a month might be nice but the question is how long does it last. Without an education chances on getting a job elsewhere if this fails might be pretty low.
