The new offering from Samsung comes with Smart Interaction technology that allows the gadget to actually response to users! The television will no longer be controlled via a remote control alone. With the new Samsung TV, the wave of a hand, a shout and other voice and gestures can actually make it respond.

This Samsung TV comes with a microphone and camera on top of the screen and a gesture and voice recognition software. The system initially allows in-menu operations of Smart Hub connected to the TV platform. It controls TV menu, volume and channel surfing. A representative waved a hand during the show to navigate through the menu and says “search for 30’s rock” to demonstrate the functionality of this brand new Samsung TV.

What more, chat addicts can install the Skype app on the TV and buy an external camera and speakerphone especially built for Skype and they can instantly use the big screen television for video calls. The Skype accessories are currently priced at $170.

The Smart Interaction technology also includes face recognition. This allows different members of the family to access their personal Smart Hub accounts by facing the television’s camera. This cool and brand new technology will be featured in Samsung TV’s Super OLED TV with versions UNES7500 and UNES8000. It will also be included in its plasma TV, the PNE8000

The above shown device is called Movit Mini WiFi tablet from GiiNii, which just happens to run Android. I always dream of having a Wifi Tablet but due to the price I would better by another laptop.

The device features a 4.3″ screen, running at 480 x 272 resolution, Bluetooth, a front side camera, and a soft keyboard.  Also on board, a built in speaker, 256MB, and a MicroSD cart slot.  As far as software goes, it comes with Skype support ready to go.

This unit will be available in the Middle of the year. But I don’t know when it will be available in Philippines. This unit tends to grab some percentage of Ipod Touch. I believe that Php 1,800 is a fair cost compared to the amount that we will be able to save if this gadget will work properly. The good thing with this new gadget is OFW can be able to call their love ones at anytime with a lower rate.

One of the great feature of this gadget is you can receive voice calls and Text Message for free. Although the message will  be their for about 9 hours and after that if your machine is off, you will not be able to retrieve it.

It is a sad news from itp.net to our friends based in Dubai Free Zone since After January 30, users based in Dubai Free Zone and Emaar properties will not be able to call phone lines from their PCs via services such as Skype. An excerpt of the news is copied below from here . I do hope Philippines will not follow the same with Dubai.

After January 30, users based in Dubai Free Zone and Emaar properties will not be able to call phone lines from their PCs via services such as Skype.

The telco provider that supplies internet services to users based in Dubai’s Free Zone and Emaar residential buildings, DIC Telecom, will block voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phone calls from the end of this month.
The move, briefly outlined in an SMS message to customers yesterday, is being made in order to comply with the UAE regulator’s instructions.
The full text of the SMS sent reads: “As per TRA instructions, starting Jan 07 we will prevent the ability to make PC to phone internet VoIP calls. For queries, call Customer Care on 04 390 5555.”
