Facebook security team will assess each bug to determine if it qualifies with the reward.

Last month Facebook hired George Hotz, a celebrated hacker known as "GeoHot," but has not disclosed what he is doing for the company. Hotz was sued by Sony for hacking the Japanese company’s PlayStation 3 game console and is credited with being the first person to go public with a way to hack into an iPhone.

Now this is good chance for hacker to earn money.

Why would you hide your friend list in facebook ? Simple to protect your friends from spammers that could get their details and gain from them thru black hat methods, So here is a simple instruction on how to hide your friend list in facebook.

How to Hide Friend List

1. Proceed to privacy setting by pressing the account at the upper right corner of your face book page. Press Privacy Settings as shown below

2. Change your “view settings” , this can be seen at the upper part of the page after pressing the account >> privacy Settings as shown below

3. After pressing the “ View Settings “ a page will be shown with the following choices : ( You can set each item at your preferred settings )

Search for me on Facebook – This lets friends find you on Facebook. If you’re visible to fewer people, it may prevent you from connecting with your real world friends.

Send me friend requests – This lets real world friends send you friend requests. If not set to everyone, it could prevent you from connecting with your friends.

Send me messages – This lets friends you haven’t connected with yet send you a message before adding you as a friend.

See my friend list – This helps real world friends identify you by friends you have in common. Your friend list is always available to applications and your connections to friends may be visible elsewhere.

See my education and work – This helps classmates and coworkers find you.

See my current city and hometown – This helps friends you grew up with and friends near you confirm it’s really you.

See my interests and other Pages – This lets you connect with people with common interests based on things you like on and off Facebook.

4. You can set your “ See my Friend List “ to “ Only Me “ by pressing Custom settings. To protect your friends facebook you could also set your friend list visible only to you by pressing the button on the right side and choosing custom. Usually spammers can get your friends by seeing your friend list. this are the options where you can change your visibility in facebook.

Here is the screen capture :

5. As an added security measures you can set your “Sharing on Facebook” to Friends Only. so that your pictures and Wall Updates cannot be seen by unauthorized people to view your account.

We will post some more security tips for facebook in future. but the above mentioned tips will help you not to disclose information to those unwanted internet spammers. Social Media is great to network to others but it is also the fastest way to get information for any person if it is not properly guarded. It is not bad to socialized but be very careful.

Adrian ‘pagvac’ Pastor, a security researcher with GNUCitizen.org, on Friday posted proof-of-concept code that can inject a third-party page — a fake login page in Pastor’s example — while the user’s browser address bar still displays the Google domain. This could dupe the user into entering login details.

"The beauty of frame injection attacks is that the attacker is able to impersonate a trusted entity without needing to bypass XSS/HTML filters or even break into the target server," Pastor explained on the GNUCitizen site.

In a related blog post on Friday, security researcher Aviv Raff explained that Google is vulnerable to "a cross-domain Web-application sharing security design flaw."

And According to the news this flaw has been seen since April and Google is not yet taking any action.

"Today, after not getting any further response from the Google security team about this issue, and after Adrian published his proof-of-concept, I’ve decided to reveal this information in a hope that this security design flaw will be fixed by Google as soon as possible," said Raff.

In reference to the proof-of-concept, a Google spokesperson said, "We’re aware of the potential for this kind of behavior when services are hosted across multiple domains, and we take steps to restrict it where we believe it may have security consequences."

Well Google has to explain this one on their official site, so that their E-mail user will feel comfortable on using their Free E-mail. And Did you know that E-mails can be tracked ?. So better keep a hard copy or printed copy of those E-mails that needs protection such as username and passwords that still resides in your mailbox. Better transfer it to your PC for safe keeping purpose. Better to that or be sorry later on. What if they hack our AdSense Earnings ? So Be Careful .

Coded Arms Contagion thrusts players into a new cybernetic crisis where they must use their hacking abilities and an arsenal of high-powered weaponry to survive. As a lone security agent, players will enter A.I.D.A., a virtual reality military training program, to prevent cyber-terrorists from taking control of the program and gaining access to classified military information. Across a variety of enclosed and open-air levels, players will take on original enemies with an all-new selection of firearms and explosives that lets them counter the terrorist menace with more firepower than ever before. Up to eight players can go head-to-head in the game’s new online multiplayer modes.

Is this true that Google is Vulnerable to Malware attack ? I have read an article by Defcon A well-known researcher specializing in website security tha they have criticized safety on Google, arguing the world’s biggest search engine needlessly puts its millions of users at risk, But how ?

The most devastating is the ability of Google gadgets to immediately redirect victims who log into iGoogle.com to a page under the control of an attacker. This creates a phishing hazard, particularly for less tech-savvy users who don’t know to check the browser bar. Even if they do, the bar shows up at gmodules.com, an address many mistakenly believe is safe because it is maintained by Google. ( Source )

They said that

Google gadgets make other attacks possible, including: the ability to:

carry out port scanning on a victim’s internal network to conduct surveillance

use cross-site request forgery techniques to force victim PCs to follow links to malicious sites (for instance, those that host child pornography) and

cause a victim’s browser to access a home router and change domain name system server addresses or other sensitive settings. ( Source )

Although Hansen CEO of secTheory and Stracener acknowledged that in-the-wild attacks that use Google gadgets are rare, but they said that’s likely to change. I believed that Google response to this matter should be address as soon as possible.

Well I rarely use Google Gadget

Update : Please see updated information on renewing E-Passport in Riyadh Saudi Arabia

I saw it in the news [ Tv Patrol ] that Philippines is now going to release the epassport which can be used in having any travel visa in any part of the world.

The news said :

Beginning December, the Department of Foreign Affairs Consular Affairs will issue epassport to comply with the standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization.

The epassport was launched during the 110th Founding Anniversary of the department.

Consular Affairs Assistant Secretary Domingo Lucenario said a French company, Francois Charles Oberthur, won the bidding for the epassport conducted by the Bangko Sentral. Fourteen companies participated in the bidding.

He said Francois is the same company responsible for the epassport in Belgium, the first country in the world to comply with the ICAO standard.

The epassport has a chip where the security features and personal data of the holder are stored making it difficult for syndicates to commit passport fraud.

As what I have seen in the news the passport will contain electronic information of the passport holder. We don’t have to bring pictures during renewal since DFA will use camera in order to save it in their database and to be embedded in the chips.

So Filipinos will be able to proved that their passport are also high tech

This passport will be used for Travel Visa and Visa Application to any part of the World. They said that thru this method it will now be hard for crooks to use somebody passport.

I just hope that it will not increase payments of Passport or it will be an extra burden for OFW workers.

So after 3 years I will have to renew my passport and get mine Mabuhay Philippines.

After WordPress 2.6 Beta 1 and WordPress 2.6 Beta 2 now here comes the final version of WordPress 2.6 and the following changes are just some of the features of the new WordPress 2.6.

Here are some of the smaller features and improvements in 2.6:

Word count! Never guess how many words are in your post anymore.

Image captions, so you can add sweet captions like Political Ticker does under your images.

Bulk management of plugins.

A completely revamped image control to allow for easier inserting, floating, and resizing. It’s now fully integrated with the WYSIWYG.

Drag-and-drop reordering of Galleries.

Plugin update notification bubble.

Customizable default avatars.

You can now upload media when in full-screen mode.

Remote publishing via XML-RPC and APP is now secure (off) by default, but you can turn it on easily through the options screen.

Full SSL support in the core, and the ability to force SSL for security.

You can now have many thousands of pages or categories with no interface issues.

Ability to move your
wp-config
file and
wp-content
directories to a custom location, for “clean” SVN checkouts.

Select a range of checkboxes with “shift-click.”

You can toggle between the Flash uploader and the classic one.

A number of proactive security enhancements, including cookies and database interactions.

Stronger better faster versions of TinyMCE, jQuery, and jQuery UI.

Version 2.6 fixes approximately 194 bugs.

I think I have to wait for some time to upgrade my system since we all know that sometimes upgrades can also mess up your WordPress installation. I am using and Automatic Upgrade so upgrading is not hard, just one click and I am upgraded. Just have to wait.
