At the Mobile Word Congress in Barcelona, Nokia has unveiled its much rumored online application store calle Ovi Store. Here’s how they pitch it:

“Offering a range of content including applications, games, videos, widgets, podcasts, location-based applications and personalised content, Ovi Store will be available on S60 and Series 40 devices. The first device to include the mobile storefront on board will be the Nokia N97, set to launch in June. Meanwhile tens of millions of existing S60 and Series 40 devices will be able to take advantage of the store from May. Ovi Store is unique in its ability to target content based on where you are, when you’re there, why you are where you are and who else has downloaded similar content.”

Ovi Store user should wait for the ’social discovery’ feature which will enable users to find out which content is being used by their social network peers, as they will automatically be highlighted and made available for download on their devices.

I am a NOKIA user, so an application like this would be of great use to us Nokia User. The only thing unknown at the moment is what will be the payment procedure, Will it be by credit card? or will they allow Paypal to be used.

As of today, content publishers and developers will be able to register for the Ovi Store here, but they will only be able to upload starting next month. The application store will be gradually rolled out, starting next May in nine countries.

Finally it is here the Android Phone, G Phone, HTC Phone , or what ever they call it. As long as it is here. It was recently launch by T-Mobile yesterday. If you can remember I blog before regarding the so called leaked photos and specification of Android Phone.

This will be a test Mobile for Google Mobile Application. Well about the device, The device is made by Taiwan-based phone manufacturer HTC which will sell for $179 with a two-year contract, starting Oct. 22. T-Mobile will offer two different bundles of Internet and messaging services, on top of its usual voice calling plans: $25 for unlimited Internet and "some" messaging, or $35 for unlimited Internet and messaging. (T-Mobile should be posting these details soon at its press site, which for now only offers a replay of the phone’s unveiling in New York.).

I don’t know when it will be released in Philippines. If you remember iPhone was released by Globe Telecoms. Smart Telecoms should be fast in having deals with HTC so that they can have chance in releasing this phone in Philippines market. Many says that the Android Phone is an iPhone Killer so if Smart can get it , it will be a great competition for Globe iPhone. Just my thoughts.

So here are some specification available in the net.

It has QWERTY Keyboard, 3 Megapixel Camera, Wi-Fi, Music and Video Player, and a Google packed products.

Some feature as shown in via gizmodo.com

Screen
The G1 sports a 3.17" 65K color touchscreen that runs in HVGA (480×320) resolution.

Battery Life
You can talk for 5 hours, or keep the phone in standby for 130 hours.

Camera
3.1MP, or right around 4×6 print quality.

Frequency Fun
GSM/GPRS/EDGE/Wi-Fi and UMTS/HSDPA
850/900/1700/1800/1900/2100Mhz

Dimensions
4.60” x 2.16” x 0.62”; Weight: 5.6 ounces. And available in white, black and brown.

Storage
1GB MicroSD card preinstalled. Supports 8GB MicroSD.

GPS
Available

Google Maps
As we’ve seen in a recent update, the G1′s Maps application will integrate Street View so you can see where you are going. But in an industry first, a built-in compass orients the map to your position. North is always up!

Android Market
Similar to the iPhone’s mobile App Store, the Android Market will allow downloading of various Android apps from the phone, to the phone.

Amazon MP3 Store
Amazon’s MP3 store will be preloaded on every G1, allowing the download of 6 million DRM-free tracks with singles starting at 89 cents. Downloading music requires a Wi-Fi connection, previewing can be done over T-Mobile’s network.

YouTube
Yup, it’s on there.

Other Apps
ShopSavvy: designed to help people do comparative shopping
Ecorio: developed to help people keep track of their daily travels and view what their carbon footprint looks like
BreadCrumbz: enables people to create a step-by-step visual map using photos; customers can create their own routes, share them with friends or with the world

More information from Google Blog .

Would you buy this phone if it reach Philippines, Provided it is cheaper than iPhone.

I want to share you some application which I am using to free chatting with Yahoo and MSN via my Nokia3230 mobile. Just try to access http://wap.mig33.com, and download the Mobile Application.

Here are the simple step to access and Install mig33 on your mobile:

Step 1 : Make sure your mobile phone is capable of web browsing
Step 2 : Enroll your mobile phone to your service provider to Mobile Internet ( if you are in Saudi and using Al Jawal – Type “NET” in message and send to 2222 )
Step 3 : Surf and go to http://wap.mig33.com using your Mobile Internet
Step 4 : Then Download the mig33 installer
Step 5 : accept the installation even it is unverified
Step 6 : After installation go to the Program list on your menu and try to look for mig33 application
Step 7 : Then it will ask you to register if you have pre registered on their site http://www.mig33.com from your computer you can use this log in details in your mobile if not you have to register.
Step 8 : When ever you are already log in just press menu and change the setting of IM ( Instant Messaging ). Put your login details for yahoo and then presto you can now chat using your mobile. In Saudi Arabia the charge is based on Kilo bites (KB) Sent.

I hope you can get it. My wife and I is enjoying free chatting with our relatives and friends because it’s convenient to use our Cellphone than to open the computer.
