Probably one of the most talked about person today in Philippine Blogosphere is Mr. Jayce Perlas of Perlas and Luna PR Agency. Well to those of you who doesn’t know it yet, Mr. Jayce Perlas have angered a Tech Blogger ( Arpee ). It was an incident that happened in a product launch of a certain Electronic Product handled by Perlas and Luna.

I got the news upon browsing this Plurk page , You can also see other  Plurk page where other bloggers have expressed their concern about this incident. Well I do not know Mr Jayce Perlas or Arpee Lazaro personally but the way Arpee narrated the incident it seems that there are still some PR People who does not know what blogging is.

I think those PR people, more than anybody else in that event, should know how to be polite.

But to all of you , why don’t you try to Google “ Jayce Perlas “ or “ Perlas and Luna “. Search results will show you some bloggers who already blogged about the incident. { Perhaps it will not be good for them }

But of course to Mr. Jayce Perlas , You can always say your part. You can contact any of those bloggers thru contact page.

Lesson Learned : Try to be polite even to those who are wearing Jeans in an event.

As of yesterday I have done Adsense optimization with this blog. I have added Sidebar Adlinks and Sidebar Banner Text Ads.

I will be monitoring or perhaps plot it on a graph to know if I have increased the CTR ( Click Through Rate ) and CPC ( Cost per Click ) since some forums and blogs says that when your ads is becoming more the CPC ( Cost Per Click ) is becoming low.And some say also that CTR is indirectly proportional with CPC. This is what I would like to find out after some days of testing.

I have already succeeded with my previous Adsense Optimization to get $ 3.33 / day. Now I am aiming for $10.00 / day using passive income.

This might be a hard task and I don’t know when it will come to succeed, anyway at least the first aim succeeds after 3 months

Just a suggestion don’t be so serious on your aim, just blog what you want and don’t blog about the money alone. Just be happy and if you feel exhausted, STOP and REST. You have to remember that sick people cannot blog So just be careful.

Don’t forget to do experiment, It is a way to success be brave and step forward. I have learn lesson today that if you optimize for something don’t forget it. Some of you don’t know that I am also doing post for SEO purpose but I am not bothering my RSS Subscriber and Home Page visitors. I have learn a way to Hide post in homepage and remove those post in my RSS feeds.

I have tried to make post about the Civil Engineering Result but I forget to optimize it. In fact it was not yet indexed by Googel I mean Google.

I am preparing post for my blogging lesson learn during vacation I am just busy this days so just wait for it.

It is just a simple comments, and thanks to him for appreciating it and so this blog post was born.

How important a comments in a blog?

For me it is really important. And I must admit it is one of my Blog Post source. Usually replying in a comment via another post is best to do if an explanation to the question needs to be in detailed. An example is when I responded to Ordinacin question about making feed links as an additional factor for SEO.

Upon linking of Jimmy to my site I have come to an idea that commenting in another blog is a good Link Bait. It happen to me many times and I am also doing it to my commenter’s.

So here are some tips How We can gain a link from those blog that we visit:

1. Always make you comment relevant to their topic.
2. Ask a question to the author about the topic that he have mentioned.
3. Give some suggestion about the topic or niche that he wrote
4. Look for a great post that is within your niche and comment.
5. Check for a blog post that does not have too much comments, or no comments at all so that you can immediately catch the author’s attention. ( Many times that I tried to comment on blogs with too much comment.. and I am always ignored )
6. Think of a question that an author will think first before he could answer your question. ( example : if an author is suggesting something, and in fact he is not practicing it on their site, You can send a challenge question on how come he is suggesting this kind of stuff well in fact he is not practicing it. )
7. Don’t think that a blog author will not link to you even you are a first time visitor. ( I got a link from Jimmy as I am a first time visitor at his site )
8. Check you spelling ( Oooouuucchhh most of the time I failed to do this )
9. Avoid using such word like …  I like your blog want to have a link exchange…. Great post !!! Please visit my blog…. A unique post, I need more… This kind of comment looks like a spam that is why it will usually caught by Akismet. It is not a problem to make those kind of comment if you have made about 15 or more comments on that blog already. Since the moderator already knows who you are.
10. Make a post by responding to their post. Just don’t forget how to make a proper trackback. Or if it does not appear on their trackback section. inform them by placing the link to your blog post at their comment box.

This tips works for me and I do hope it will work with you to gain new readers and Link Juice vi this Link Bait Technique. Well another lesson learn in Blogging.

I will try to answer questions on how to insert Feed Links or Feed Footer on your RSS Feeds.

How to put RSS feeds Links in Blogspot?

It is rather easy to put feeds links in Blogspot since it is readily available for their Dashboard. Just follow the bellow instruction

1. Go to Dashboard >>> Setting >>> Site Feed >>> Post Feed Footer
2. Enter the HTML Code linking to any post or Website that you like to link.
3. You must also set “Enable Post Pages” to “Yes” (in Archiving settings) [ Dashboard >>> Setting >>> Archiving >>> Post Feed Footer
4. Set “Allow Blog Feeds” to “Full” (above).

And so there you have it. You can now put links to your feeds. Many bloggers does not know that this links is also an effective way to advertise and add some juice to their site.

How to put RSS Feed Links in WordPress ?

Unlike Blogspot self hosted WordPress does not have an ready available option to this but instead a wordpress user can add a plugin that will be suitable for this task. Daily Blog Tips has written a post regarding this task ( Add a Footer to Your RSS Feed: 7 Practical Examples ) which also gives the following wordpress plugin. BTW I am using RSS Signature for this blog with WordPress 2.3.2 installed

How will this help with SEO (Search Engine Optimization ) of a certain page or site ?

It helps in many ways, If there are website that are getting your feed links in order to promote on their site. This links will give real juice in your blog or blog post. ( in other words scrapers ).

When Google , Yahoo, Bing or any Search Engines crawls went to a feed site it will automatically crawl on the footer that will also leads at your Site.

This is also one way of protecting your post from those site ( scrapers ) stealing blog contents via feeds. Hope You like it.

This can also be used to monetized your feeds thru direct advertising.

The Blogroll Technique

Since I have other blogs hosted from WordPress.com and Blogspot I was able to put a Blog Roll under with name Marhgil Macuha that is directed to my post. I was also able to put links at my Forum Signature links.

The Feeds Technique

The Posting Technique

I was able to make different post from my other blog to boost the ranking of my entry post to the contest.

Every time that I see my rank is going down, I will try to make a post in my other blogs just to make an additional juice to my entry.

My Final Plan in which was not implemented : The Blog Name Technique and Posting

To change my blog name from ” Technology At Hand ” to ” Marhgil Macuha “. I did not make it from the beginning since I am afraid that it will make problem on other Keyword that I am optimizing in this blog. I have seen that almost all in the Front Page is using this technique. But I plan to be my last card. But is does not came into reality.

My other plan is to make post in all my blogs at an interval of 30 minutes prior to the project conclusion. But unfortunately it was not done.

Lesson learn from my opponent

I have seen that the Search Engine gives additional juice to the one who blog it first, Although Jehzlau was not the winner, He was there in the first page constantly. No wonder why those news breaker like Tech Crunch is always on top of the SERP either Google or Yahoo.

Conclusion

It is fun to join such kind of contest. First you will learn a lot. And you will be able to meet new friends. I must admit that Marhgil contest gives way so that this site will be known to other Pinoy bloggers. I am a winner in a sense that I have gained some readers and feed subscriber from this contest. I wonder if Marhgil will post all the entries as a way of showing his thanks to all who joined? Because I want to make a calculation on how many did this two winner beat.

And finally thanks to Eam for making me smile even after what happen to my site.

First I am studying on how I can make back up for my site for upgrading to WordPress 2.3.2 and suddenly when I try Google I found the site http://www.ilfilosofo.com/blog/wp-db-backup/ which gave a back up plugin for my site. I was able to install and activate without any problem. I tried to push the button that says back up and everything goes Well.

I turned off the WordPress and proceed immediately to Cpanel. I Went to the ” back up icon” and press the ” full back up “. It also went fine but suddenly after I received an email to check what going on at my site I suddenly see a database error.

Wow. The rest is history. It is good that my hosting provider is there to help. We first analyze the problem and We decided that he will give me a new account and install my back up.

But upon checking my back up. It does not work. The database back up that was provided to me by the above mentioned plug-in did not work.

I tried to upload it on my previous server but it does not work. I tried to download my backup before thru FTP and it does not work. The FTP was also blocked.

I really don’t know if it is my error or my site has been hacked. Is it just a coincident?

A lot of research was made . And I can say that this case made me learn a lot from Cpanel and WordPress. That is what I am proud to say. I learn the following but I need to learn it in the hard way.

• How to alter Wp_Config
• How WordPress Database Work and how to create username for database
• How to properly Install a WordPress Upgrade
• How to use the FTP
• How to move blog from One Server to another
• How important to back up your WordPress data
• That There are two types of Back Up ( Site and Data )
• How to permalink should be structured
• I learn to relax

I really do believe that everything happen for a purpose. Now you will know what are my future post. Thanks God that I have my WordPress data until October 10,2007. So I was able to retrieve my post and comments. Unfortunately the only back up that I have for post is from the weblog from Windows live Writer and therefore did not include the comments. Lesson Learn While Driving My Car and Applying to Internet Blogging and Marketing

This is just a comparison between Blogging and Driving A Car,

The moment you sit on your car usually the following question gets into the driver’s mind:

1. Which car will you drive? If you have more than One
2. Where are you heading ? What Path ?
3. Does your Car has a fuel ?
4. Did you Check you tires ?
5. What Route will you take? The shortcut with lots of obstacles or the long cut ?
6. Who will be with me ?
7. Do I wear my Sit Belt ?
8. Do I have my Tool at the Tool Box ?
9. Do I have my Spare Tire ?
10. Check the Last Item

Check it out how do I relate them to blogging.

1. Which car will you drive? If you have more than One

A blogger will always asked himself, Which blog will I optimized ? Which blog will be my secondary blog ? In this regards you will be able to know which blog will be helped to be pushed at the Main Page of the SERP. I own two site with almost same niche. One is from Blogspot and the other one is this blog. I usually support this blog from my other site. Because my blogspot site has a more blog juice from this, Since it created a year ago. But now I love WordPress that is why I am using it to promote this blog.

2. Where are you heading ? What Path ?

What niche would you go, Will it be a Technology for Girls Niche, A food niche , a Game Niche and Song Lyrics..or what so ever that pops at your mind that interest you. And what would I suggest is you have to pick a niche that interest you. It in nonsense to make a niche about car in which you don’t even know how to troubleshoot cars. Or you want to blog about dogs but in reality you hate dogs. The thing is you have the blog what you love and will not have a hard time to blog.

3. Does your Car has a fuel ?

A car needs a fuel to run, A blog needs post to be noticed, My question is, Have you ready some post in advance ? So that before you promote your site, it will have contents which is unique and interesting to check by your new visitors.

In time that you like to promote your blog, It would be better to promote it after 20 to 30 post.Your readers will be able to understand the niche that you would like to relay unto them. And remember it should be unique.

4. Where will you buy your Fuel ?

I can relate it to the Social Media , which is one way to advertise your blog. You can also advertise your blog into other blogs.

You may also try to spend and ask some links to other site which has the same theme as your niche. Or you could politely ask for a link exchange. You can also find site that supports nofollow tag so that you could have a link juice from their site.

I would also suggest joining Forum and E-groups.

5. Did you Check you tires ?

What the car needs while moving is its tires. What Blogging need to be in the net is the Host site.

We need to decide on what hosting do we need to go, Will it be Blogspot, WordPress.com or self Hosted WordPress Blog ( Paid or Free ) ?. It is important to decide on this matter since it will be difficult to handle later on when your site is already fully optimized. You can check my post about this two free host.

6. Who will be with me ?

Are you running your blog alone or are you going to invite fellow blogger to have a group blog? This is just a question if you would like to do something like Group Blogging. But like driving your car, You can drive it alone. And sometimes ask for a guest blogger.

7. Do I wear my Sit Belt ?

The sit belt’s purpose is to support the passenger in sudden accident, So the next question is what are the measure you have to do to protect your blog from SPAM. Like an accident Spammers come in time which you don’t expect them to come. So installing application such as Akismet or Spam Karma or any other Spam Protection is a must on starting blog.

8. Do I have my Tools at the Tool Box ?

Have you gather all your resources for making some tweaks at your blog. Do you have the right site that will give you a good theme and Plug in if you are using WordPress or Blogspot Hacks if you are using Blogspot.

9. Do I have my Spare Tire ?

Always have a Plan B when Blogging, If your first attempt failed well check your spare it might help. Having a plan B Always help.In blogging don’t be frustrated if you did not succeed in your first Trial. There is always second chance.
