It is a tradition for every bloggers to make reports on what happened on their blogging career for the year. So here I am making my blogging report for year 2011.

This year is a great year for Tech At Hand Dot Net, a year when I experience lots of things from high traffic, to Google AdSense ban, Panda update bomb and many more. But this year is the most fruitful year for me when it comes to financial blessings through this blog and my other blogs. So let me itemized the great things and opportunities that happen to me this year.

Here are some points to encourage new bloggers:

I manage to earn a net online income of six digit in Philippine Peso for one month and a constant five digit in Philippine Peso per month. (I am not a full-time blogger)

This year, I understood the importance of having collaboration and getting new ideas for this blog. I learn that blogging could be a business and I could enjoy blogging without being burn out. [ Blog as an investment ]

We were hit by Panda update and the traffic goes down to 50%. Some of the keywords which I am ranking for years have been hit by SEO Panda update. It’s an opportunity because it urge me to study again the new techniques of SEO nowadays. I started reading updates from different SEO blog that I am subscribed before.

We were given the Tech Blog Award by PEBA.

My blog earnings manage to pay the monthly amortization of our lot purchased at Antel Grand Village (It’s 27 T per month)

I have learned other sources of blog income aside from AdSense. Special thanks to Nuffnang and Marimedia.

We manage to close deals with some advertisers in this blog.

After my AdSense ban, I was able to know that Chitika (I reinstate my Chitika gold account after the ban) also pays good and a great AdSense alternative.

Tech At Hand manage to have a new advertisers..

I have manage to increase my domains to 30+, some of them is just a protection domain to those earning domains. It is my prevention from domain squatting.

Special thanks to the team of Batangas Today and editors, Marhgil Macuha, Sheila Macuha and Angel Cuala.

Below is a screen shot of my blog performance this year 2011, I manage to get 1 million Unique Visitors and 1.4 Million Page views. It is actually double than last year visit. As you can see Panda update have really affected our traffic. The big drop of traffic actually happen at mid of October. We have not yet recovered on that update. But I do hope that future update will be good for us. It was only on December when I manage to get back the AdSense of this blog. No AdSense in my blog from January to November of this year. But I still manage to get my online income as shown in #1. I have now reduced intrusive ads and replace it with AdSense.

There is really money in blogging, you just have to concentrate on what you are doing and think out of the box. Don’t forget to get some advise from others. Collaboration is also good. I will post y plan for next year by next week.

Tech At Hand has been in existence for more than 5 years and ever since, all blog post in this blog was written either by me or by my wife. I also consider blogging as a business and I am making money out of it. This is not my sole source of income but I could say that it also give a fair share of my monthly income. In fact, my blog earning is what I am using for paying the Lot that I bought at Antel Grand Village (site in progress) in Cavite, as I mentioned in my earlier post. I also love to do experiments and do something out of the box to try new idea and make it into action.

I am also busy doing offline job, which is the reason why updates on this blog is usually every other day or sometimes two times a week. But I can say that earning nowadays is better compared before. So to make a steady flow of traffic and engage more visitors, a constant fresh content is needed for a blog to survive in any updates of Google Algorithm. Content is still the King and Marketing is the queen.

I have come to an idea of investing to hire staff for this blog and for my other blogs. If I have staff to do the research for me, I can focus on handling the on site and offsite optimization. I also believe that a business person should try to know their strength and weaknesses. Those weaknesses shall be outsourced and the strength should be further enhanced.

I also believed that there is no successful business person that runs his business alone without any support from anyone. I will let you know how further updates and I hope it will be a successful experiment.

Did the Title catch your attention. I know this post will give you a new idea so just continue reading.

Well as you know I made an e-book regarding earning from current events { Password = “SEOMONEY” } , but sad to say that not all bloggers knows what will happen in the future, Is it right ? Well what If I will tell you that it is possible to know the future events so that you can be prepared in your SEO ( Search Engine Optimization ) tactics. I know that lot’s of this blog reader are already well verse in Search Engine Optimization and since I am happy today after I found out that some of my keywords are already up in the SERP this Tip will really make your day.

If a blogger can get it into top of the SERP ( Search Engine Ranking Page ) for a certain event it will surely bring money from clicks thru Ads and not to mention the traffic it will bring to a site.

So How will you know the future events?

Well it is really easy. You just have to use the Google Search and just type keywords such as [ Future Sports Events Wikipedia ] from there you can see Category:Future Sporting Events , you can change the keyword to [ Future Events Wikipedia ] well actually we can make the variety of keywords just add Events & Wikipedia since Wikipedia has a large number of events both future , past and present so Wikipedia is the best place to go for research.

Wikipedia can tell you variety of events in the future so it is only up to you to grab it if you have time.

Then after checking the events you just have to check thru Google Trends on what events you need to optimized and which events gives lots of traffic based on their succeeding season. Then you have to use the Freekeywords from wordtracker.com to know the variety of keywords you may use to optimized your post. Well actually if you use SEO for Firefox Plugin you don’t have to go individually to Google Trends and Wordtracker because the mentioned Firefox Plugin has already links in the below portion of the search results.

Just to sum it all :

Search for the Events

Check for Traffic Opportunity

Check for Different Keywords { Don’t just concentrate in one keywords – Be Imaginative and be like a searcher }

Then Optimize the post using different tips you know.

I just hope this tip will help you to know on what event you may want to blog and get a ton of traffics. And as an additional tip those events have usually very little competition.

I have some Other SEO Tips in the past that you might want to check :

I just paid $16.39 for all those domains from Godaddy.com thru Paypal. I am thinking of those URL as an investment in the future and I believe it is worth to protect your sites other URL. Thanks to PayPal and all transaction in receiving and buying online become possible.

Because what if this site becomes very big such as Techcrunch or like other big Tech site anyway.. It is just a dream but who knows.

Happy Blogging to All

It was a year ago that Myjournal.ph open its door to Filipino Blogger’s offering free Blog Hosting as an alternative to Blogspot.com and Multiply.com which is run by WordPress. I actually open an account and tried to blog on there. I can say that I am also using that site to put some link juice to my main blog before.

It is on my dismayed to found out that it’s domain is expired. as shown below

Upon checking the site Myjournal.ph it shows that the domain has expired. Is this another failed Business Venture? Is this included in those Business venture that did not succeed? Upon digging onto it I saw that the site has been expired for almost 2 months( Expired Date : 2007 Nov 20 ).

If you remember before I told that I have succeed in having transaction with dot.ph. I still don’t have final idea on where to use this domain. I might use this as Photo Blog or I will have to transfer my Personal Blog in here. But I prefer to maintain only one blog. Since dot ph can forward the domain, I have asked them to forward it here.

The reason I took the domain is upon checking the site index it tells that there are lots of Filipino blog linked to this blog. So I automatically have a domain name with juice.. Whhooaaa type [ link:myjournal.ph ] at Google and you will see what I mean.

They may not succeed, But I believed I can get my investment with in a year of using this domain.

I have been using Primo PDF in converting any Microsoft documents into PDF and it works really great but for my hard copy scanning I use my HP Scanjet 5590 Scanner.

What is my HP Scanjet 5590 Scanner Specification?

A flatbed scanner with document feeder with

with it’s Task speed – Less than 24 sec: 4 x 6-in color photo into Microsoft Word; less than 36 sec: OCR a full page of text into Microsoft Word; less than 18 sec: e-mail photo

What is My experience using this Machine?

I may say that this scanner is really good. It has a feature of having a scan output with Microsoft Word and PDF. Although I am not yet successful in scanning Documents with pictures into Microsoft Word. What I mean is having a very good result that all pictures and text is in order after scanning.

If I am scanning about 30 pages I prefer to scan it as picture and not having and editable Text.

The scanner is using its own program called HP Director. The HP Director will ask you on what type of document will you scan and what will be the resulting documents after scan. It is either PDF or Microsoft Word.

You could scan Camera Films using this machine.

The document feeder works great when scanning multiple pages.

A also like it’s one touch button to scan for filing, Scan Picture,Scan to email and scan to PDF.

Do I have any Problems encountered?

It is very slow if you will scanned a text documents by using OCR. Aside from the problem mentioned there is nothing to share.

Conclusion

I suggest you to buy this scanner if you are planning to buy one. A good investment.
