Above pictures shows Dubai Metro, and Inside of Mall of UAE. It’s a big mall and is directly connected to Dubai Metro. Wait for the next pictures and updates. I will be here for another 2 days. I stayed at Rotana Towers which I reviewed before. The only difference is I stayed in Rotana Club Room.

Rotana Towers is a 4 star hotel at Sheik Zayed Road in Dubai, a good place because it is accessible in different places of Dubai. It is very near to Financial District Metro Station, so you will not be lost if it is your first time in Dubai.

The Receptionist will greet you with smile, I have seen different nationalities in the reception and they are all hospitable. The room is great as shown in below pictures

What about the Room Service ?

Room service is fantastic ask for flat iron with board , tooth paste, or shaving cream or anything you personally need they will give you immediately. I have never waited for more than 5 minutes in any request that I have made. I believe it is great. I have been in other hotel but I believe Rotana Tower is one of the best on 4 Star Level.

What about the Presentation ?

You will not be ashamed to invite your business partner either in the Restaurant or in the lobby within the hotel since the place is really presentable.

The Breakfast…

I got the Hotel reservation including the breakfast and it is served at the 2nd level on a buffet basis. After eating they will ask you to sign a receipt of 85 AED for a breakfast but don’t be afraid it is for record purpose only and you don’t have to pay for it. if it is included in your hotel reservation.

Tips while in the Hotel

1. Before using anything in the Hotel be sure it is Complimentary ( Free ) , if you don’t want to pay anything. But if you can, Use what ever you want to use.
2. Ask for their shuttle service time , This shuttle service goes to different place in Dubai for free.
3. Know the time when you can take your breakfast.
4. If you need an Iron Board, call them and they will provide.
5. Check the internet, for the lowest rate. if you want to save.  As per my experience I save about 40% while using the internet thru travel agent.
6. Ask for a late check out if you think you will be late.
7. You can ask for shaving cream, tooth brush, towel and other personal things you need to use while staying in the hotel.
8. It would be preferable to use Credit Card.
9. Ask for the Area where you can have free internet Access.Using the internet in your room will cost you a lot.

Cyber criminals are stepping up their focus on the Middle East, authorities are warning following the busting of an online fraud ring that targeted Dubai. Last week’s announcement by authorities that an online fraud gang had been pretending to offer financial services out of the Dubai International Financial Centre has highlighted the dangers firms here in the region are facing. David Knott, CEO of the Dubai Financial Services Authority, warned last week that such attacks will “increasingly” occur in the Middle East.

“The Middle East is becoming a new target for those cyber crimes because [people] are engaging more in technologies and connecting to networks around the world. The more connections, the more vulnerabilities you will have,” Dr Abdulrahman Al-Shenafi, senior adviser on IT and security to the Ministry of Interior in Saudi Arabia told IT Weekly.

Companies in the banking, hospitality and travel sectors, which are growing their online presence, are particularly at risk, but “any large corporation or business online that has a significant income from these websites,” would be a target for cyber crime, according to Rashed Al-Abbar, product manager esecurity at Etisalat.

If this could happen in the Middle East, It could also happen anywhere. So everybody should be aware of this news, even you are in Middle East or in Philippines.

It is a sad news from itp.net to our friends based in Dubai Free Zone since After January 30, users based in Dubai Free Zone and Emaar properties will not be able to call phone lines from their PCs via services such as Skype. An excerpt of the news is copied below from here . I do hope Philippines will not follow the same with Dubai.

DIC Telecom to follow Etisalat’s VoIP blocking lead

After January 30, users based in Dubai Free Zone and Emaar properties will not be able to call phone lines from their PCs via services such as Skype.

The telco provider that supplies internet services to users based in Dubai’s Free Zone and Emaar residential buildings, DIC Telecom, will block voice over internet protocol (VoIP) phone calls from the end of this month.
The move, briefly outlined in an SMS message to customers yesterday, is being made in order to comply with the UAE regulator’s instructions.
The full text of the SMS sent reads: “As per TRA instructions, starting Jan 07 we will prevent the ability to make PC to phone internet VoIP calls. For queries, call Customer Care on 04 390 5555.”
