OOpss I was not able to blog about Macworld Conference and Expo that happen last January 5-9, perhaps I was busy sourcing information about CES 2009. The Tech World seems to have more attention at the CES 2009 that is why most feeds are talking about CES and Not MacWorld. Last Year Macworld made a News compared to CES because of the Apple Iphone Launch.

This is a follow up post from my post the other day regarding the meeting at cupertino the new line of Macbook Pro is now released. And it only proves that the leaked photos of Macbook is true. The rumored Macbook Touch Screen was not included in the release. Anyway it might be released soon. Who knows ?

Apple’s also put in some effort on slimming down the computer, bringing it down to a mere 0.95-inches thick (though at 5.5 pounds it’s a hair heavier than the original)

The specs as per Engadget

the specs. Apple’s using NVIDIA’s new 9400M GPU + chipset 1-2 punch for integrated graphics, supplemented by 9600M GT switchable discreet graphics chip for heavy lifting, and pumping out those graphics over a Mini DisplayPort connector, if you’d like to supplement the LED backlit screen. As expected there’s an SSD option, with drive accessible underneath the battery. The 15.4-inch base model retails for $1999, with a 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of DDR3 RAM and both GPUs. Step up to $2499 and you get a faster CPU, 4GB of RAM and a 320GB HDD. The 17-inch MacBook Pro comes in a similar configuration with a 2.6GHz processor, starting at $2799, but sans the redesign and GPU love. Hit the jump for a breakdown of the configurations.

Below are some specification taken during the conference

Apple has announced the launch date and time for their MobileMe service. it is a Mac service that will offer web-based email, calendar, address book, photo gallery and storage capabilities as well as "Push" sync services. Apple announced MobileMe at this year’s Worldwide Developers Conference in early June.

MobileMe stores all your email, contacts, and calendars on an online server — or “cloud” — and pushes them down to your iPhone, iPod touch, Mac, and PC. When you make a change on one device, the cloud updates the others. Push happens automatically, instantly, and continuously. You don’t have to wait for it or remember to do anything — such as docking your iPhone and syncing manually — to stay up to date.

It will synchronize all your Apple Gadgets. I wonder if they will make a crossover platform where they can also link to Windows Mobile 5 users. Although this might not happen because it is their competitor but having a collaboration will be great in the future.

Macrumors.com reported that MobileMe will launch on the evening of July 9th as shown in Mac site as follows :

MobileMe Launch
7/9/2008, 6pm-12am PT
As part of the MobileMe launch, www.mac.com will be taken offline at 6pm PT on Wednesday, July 9th.
Members will be unable to access www.mac.com or any .Mac services during this time with the exception of .Mac Mail accessed via a desktop application, iPhone, or iPod touch.
MobileMe will be available as soon as possible during this maintenance window.

I believed that this New Apple application will be released earlier than iPhone 3G so that iPhone 3G users will be able to take advantage of the service.

Existing .Mac subscribers should already be able to send and receive emails at their new @me.com addresses. MobileMe retails for $99/year, but iPhone 3G (or Mac) buyers will be able to pick up a year subscription for $69 on July 11th.

Now I really have to save to buy a new Macbook Pro Laptop. And it will cost me about SAR 7,000+.

There is a Macworld Conference & Expo going on and one of the highlight at the expo is the recent announcement of Google.Google has again made some improvements with their iPhone Interface. It would be better for me if they could make an updated interface for Windows Mobile. Since that is what I am using .

Below are the details of Google announcement that I copied from their site

Today, the first day of Macworld Conference & Expo, Google announced new improvements to the integrated Google experience on iPhone.

Improved UI: The applications look and feel slicker, and they are easier to activate, navigate and use via a touch-screen.

Customization of default tabs: Now Google users can have easy access to their favorite applications by customizing the applications that appear on the Google.com menu bar. Users simply choose their favorite Google applications to bring them to the front menu, ensuring that they’ll be close at hand whenever they’re needed. Switching between applications is effortless, as users only need to sign in once to access their Gmail, Calendar, Reader, Docs, and Picasa accounts.

Speedier Gmail: New emails will automatically show up so there’s no need to manually refresh inboxes. And the new auto-complete feature for contacts makes composing emails faster than ever.

Speedier Calendar: With our new month view, users can glance at an entire month of appointments.

iGoogle: Now Google users can access their iGoogle gadgets on the iPhone. Everything they’ve customized on their iGoogle homepage including weather, stocks, and news feeds now appear on their iPhone’s. To go to iGoogle, simply click on the iGoogle link on the Home tab. You can customize your iGoogle page on your computer at www.igoogle.com.

These new features provide iPhone users with a desktop-like Google web application experience in terms of ease-of-use, speed, and feature richness but optimized for the iPhone.

To get the new Google experience on the iPhone, users simply navigate to www.google.com on the iPhone Safari browser. To see the full range of mobile products and services available from Google, visit mobile.google.com.

Below are other details about the Macworld & Expo

Macworld Conference & Expo

Conference: January 14 – 18, 2008
Expo: January 15 – 18, 2008
West & South Hall, Moscone Center
San Francisco, CA
