“To fully grasp how seriously Apple executives sweat the small stuff, consider this: For months, a packaging designer was holed up in this room performing the most mundane of tasks – opening boxes”.

The writer sights the thorough care on details of the packaging so user initial encounter with the box would be precise as the product itself.

“One after another, the designer created and tested an endless series of arrows, colors, and tapes for a tiny tab designed to show the consumer where to pull back the invisible, full-bleed sticker adhered to the top of the clear iPod box. Getting it just right was this particular designer’s obsession”.

“What’s more, it wasn’t just about one box. The tabs were placed so that when Apple’s factory packed multiple boxes for shipping to retail stores, there was a natural negative space between the boxes that protected and preserved the tab”.

By now you shouldn’t be wondering why Apple fans get crazy when a new product is released. Look around, rumored release of iPad 3 and iPhone 5 is everywhere and never cease.

Manheim’s regional court, ruled that Apple devices with 3G cellular networking did infringe patent no. 1010336 that Motorola owned. This is the same patent in the US, patent no. 6,359,898. The devices affected by the sales ban include the iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G, and the iPhone 4. It also includes the Apple tablets including the iPad and the iPad 2. iPhone 4S was not included in the sales ban and was not included in the infringement case but it is most likely to that this smart phone will also be affected by the ruling once it launches.

To save its existing market and to lift the ban, Apple still needs to secure an appeal in one of the higher regional court in the country. With the sales ban implemented, it is still a wonder whether Germany can strongly enforce a nationwide ban of 3G enabled iOS devices in the entire Europe.

Meanwhile, according to FOSS Patents, there is an injunction against Apple Sales International based in Ireland in exchange for $134 million bond. Apple initially requested for a $2.7 billion bond. If Apple win a stay in the injunction, Motorola is liable to pay the bond in full amount.

Samsung Galaxy tablets and smartphones are back on the store shelves after a US judge favored Samsung and allowed the company to continue selling their products until the case come into trial. The sales ban was lifted and customers can still get their Galaxy gadgets in time for the holidays.

This is a rare defeat  for Apple, one of the big players in mobile phone and tablet market, who had been winning patent infringement cases here and there. Samsung, the Korean electronics company, was alleged to copy Apple’s technology- US Patent No. D618,677. The products in question are the Galaxy S 4G, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Infuse 4G and Droid Charge. This court battle is nothing new to both companies. They have been on each other’s neck in a fierce market competition and totaled 20 dispute cases in over 10 countries.

The motion for the sales ban was filed last July. Apple claims that Samsung copied the popular iPad’s patented design. By far, Samsung is the largest manufacturing company producing Android phones in the US. In a current survey, one out of four persons owns an Android phone.

As the legal battle continues, in the other part of the globe, Samsung won the injunction case against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia resulting to continued sales of the product. This story does not end here; Apple still stands to establish the validity of its claim against patent issues of Samsung Galaxy tablets. The case will still go into trial and the final verdict will dictate whether the said Samsung products will be taken off the shelves for good.

According to report from Digitimes source, Apple will launch the new Macbook Air series notebook in early of 2012. An added excitement to series of units will be inclusion of the 15 inch Macbook Air together with 11.6-inch and 13.3-inch to maintain its competitive advantage against ultrabooks from various PC brand vendors in the market.

Rumors few months back announced the release of 15" Macbook Air but rejected before the formal release due to designs issue of hinge is too weak to support the screen. Amazon’s new entry to tablet market is sure tempt to consumers with its 60% cheaper price than an iPad. A simplified device than the iPad 2, while saving on some of the tablet’s features that differentiates the Kindle Fire rather than trying to compete in a market that’s already owned by Apple.
