Errors in Upgrading WordPress 2.8 bleeding-edge
I just tested to upgrade one of my site to WordPress 2.8 , since it was released yesterday, and after automatic installation of WordPress 2.8 bleeding-edge I have received the following errors
Fatal error: Call to undefined method WordPress_Module::_weak_escape() in /mnt/local/home/XXX/XXX/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 487
I just changes some text to XXX for security purpose , and after making some googling I found that the errors is being caused by my Redirection Plug-in. So to those who will Upgrade automatically be sure to disable redirection plug-in before proceeding or if by mistake you did not disable the Redirection Plugin you just have to go to your hosting FTP and delete redirection plug-in, but ofcourse all your automatic redirects will not work if you do this, So better think twice before doing upgarde if you use redirection just a sugestion

Hi Dexter,
Thanks a lot for posting this information. I did not not know that WordPress already released 2.8 version. It’s a good thing to try it first with your trial domain to test its effectiveness. I also prefer to wait wait for 2.8.1 for the more secured version of WordPress 2.8.

Another problem I’ve noticed is the flash version of the image uploader.
It redirects to the login screen instead of showing the part where you input more information about the image you just uploaded.

@Dexter Panganiban,
Apparently I fixed the darn thing already.
I had to download WP 2.7.1 files and replace the 2.8 /wp-includes/js/swfupload with the 2.7.1 files for the same folder.

Gah. I had the redirection plugin active and did the auto install. Now what? Pulling it from the directory just screws up my redirects and gives me more errors. How to I get it to stop kicking up errors?

@jamEs,
Great it seems that your blog is back to normal

Redirection plug-in has been updated already, so make sure to grab the latest release.
@Vic, i’m afraid there won’t be any WordPress 2.8.1 anymore ( i hope so, unless there’s a show stopper like security flaws, etc. ), i may be wrong but according to the developers they’re already doing the 2.9 version.
