What is APU

According to Wikipedia :

An accelerated processing unit (APU) is a processing system that includes extra processing capability designed to accelerate one or more types of computations outside of a CPU. This may include a graphics processing unit (GPU) used for general-purpose computing(GPGPU), a field-programmable gate array (FPGA), or similar specialized processing system.

Basically, the analytical processing unit of the computer and the graphics processing unit of the computer are now joined into one chip by AMD, which hasn’t been done before. Meaning — better graphics, better speed, more powerful!

My Take

I have not tested any computer having this kind of new processing unit inside the PC or any other type of mobile computing, but the video shows a promising system that will allow a better PC experience . I would love to try this one in the future. According to the video this will be seen in desktop, notebook and netbook and most of all affordable. This might revolutionized the slow processing of a netbook. I would also like to see this kind of processing system in tablet.

An APU is simply a processor that combines CPU and GPU elements into a single architecture.

New technology should mean a better experience to user. I wonder what would Intel have to compete on this new technology.

There are now reason for Saudi Arabia Netrepreneurs to be happy. Now there are ways to accept payments through PayPal. 3. The eGate Card will be issued to you along with your picture.

This new system if implemented in Saudi Arabia will help lots of frequent travel in the Kingdom, Las time when I visit Dubai it took me an hour falling  in line in Immigration due to numerous people being serve at that time. It will be more advanced if they linked the eGate card to our Iqama ( Saudi National ID ) and use the iqama as the eGate Card, since our iqama is now machine readable.

This is really a nice technological advancement in Saudi Arabia. Will it be possible to be implemented in Philippine as well ?

Here are some of the unboxing pictures of my Western Digital (WD) My Book Essential External Hard Drive.

The machine includes a WD Smartware software that will back up your whole computer and categorize all your content into System Files,Music,Movies,Photos,documents,Email and other automatically . At first I tried to use it, but I found it very slow. I don’t know what is the reason, and so what I did is to make a new folder on the drive and transfer the file manually. And my whole picture archive has been transferred without a problem.

The socket plug comes into 2 types, so it can be used in any types of socket outlet in your home.it eliminates the use of more adaptor.

The whole drive could also be protected with password.

The capacity of the this External Hard Drive is 1 TB, but I believe the safest capacity we can use is up to 800 MB only. It is suggested to keep some free space in your hard disk. There are also lots of downloaded movies in my computer so I really need to have an extra space. That will be my first impression with this machine. And more reviews to be provided perhaps after 1 month of use.

All I like from this cute machine is it’s size and capacity. It would be better if the capacity could be 8GB or more. 4GB will be easily consumed after putting my MP3 files.
